Cheat Engine is for educational purposes only. Before you attach CE to a process, make sure you are not violating the EULA/TOS of the specific game or application. We do not condone illegal use.

Before You Download

You must be 18 or older (or considered an adult in your jurisdiction) to install Cheat Engine.
You need an active internet connection during installation; the installer downloads CE and may show optional software offers (you can decline).
Some antivirus software may flag CE as a hacktool. See Troubleshooting and FAQ for why and what to do.

Cheat Engine 7.6

Download the latest version below. Some antivirus programs may flag parts of Cheat Engine; if you have trouble installing or running it, temporarily disable your antivirus. More info: Troubleshooting.

Mac

Cheat Engine 7.5.2 for Mac is available. Download from the official releases (e.g. CheatEngine752.app.zip). Mac version may still have bugs; please report issues.

Cheat Engine Lua Extensions — Forum with useful add-ons for CE.
Improved .NET data collector (CE 6.4+) — Gets parent class fields. Available on official download page.
Improved Mono data collector (CE 6.4+) — 64-bit support, handles renamed mono.dll. Use LaunchMonoDataCollector() or mono_dissect() in Lua when needed.
Save sessions (CE 6.4+) — Save and reload the current scan session.
UEFI DBVM Loader + DBVM 16 — Launch DBVM before your OS. Requires CE 7.3 or later. See wiki for the file.

Translations

Community translation files (locale codes): Spanish (Latin cl_CL), Korean (ko_KR), Spanish/Castilian (es_ES), Brazilian Portuguese (pt_BR), Russian (ru_RU), Polish (pl_PL), Chinese Traditional (ch_TW), Chinese Simplified (ch_CN / zh_CN). CEServer (Network Scanning)

Server files for CE 7.5 and 7.6 (Linux, Android, x86, x86_64, arm, arm64) and server source are available; see the forum or wiki for details.

Source Code

Full source code is available for educational use and transparency. You may compile your own version for private use; publishing your own build may violate copyright. See the forum for details.

After Installing

Once installation is complete, you will find Cheat Engine in the Start Menu (Windows) or Applications (Mac). The built-in tutorial (“Cheat Engine Tutorial”) is installed as a separate program—run it to learn scanning step by step. If your antivirus quarantined a file, restore it from the antivirus dashboard and add the CE folder to exclusions so it does not block CE again. Version and Update Policy

New versions are released periodically. Check the downloads page for the latest. Patreon supporters often receive early access to Windows builds. There is no automatic update inside CE; you download and run the new installer to upgrade. Your saved .CT files are usually compatible across minor versions; if a table fails after an update, it may be due to game changes rather than CE. See Version History for release notes.
